Tesco: Ready Salted

Tesco: Ready Salted

Every supermarket needs a ready salted crisp. It’s the anchor product, the reference point, the thing that fills multipacks and sits in meal deals. Tesco’s version is exactly adequate for these purposes.

The texture is standard supermarket crisp. Not thin enough to seem cheap, not thick enough to seem premium. Engineered for the precise middle ground where nobody complains but nobody celebrates either.

The salt is appropriately distributed. The potato flavour exists in the background, present enough to remind you this is technically a vegetable product. Everything functions as intended.

The problem with adequacy

Adequate is Tesco’s entire own-brand crisp strategy. These are designed by committee, tested by focus group, optimised for inoffensiveness. They’re the beige walls of the snack world. Professionally executed neutrality.

For meal deals and children’s lunchboxes, this is fine. For actual crisp enjoyment, there’s no reason to choose these over anything else.

They exist. That’s the review.
