Spicy Sweet Chili is the flavour that confuses British consumers expecting Chilli Heatwave’s sibling. It’s sweeter than anticipated. More American in character. A different beast entirely.
The sweetness leads. Properly, noticeably sweet, like someone drizzled something syrupy over your tortilla chips. Then the chilli arrives, modest but present, and the two do an awkward dance that somehow works.
It shouldn’t work. Sweet crisps feel wrong to British sensibilities. We want savoury. We want salt. We don’t want our snacks reminding us of dessert.
And yet.
Something about this combination triggers compulsive eating. The sweet-heat cycle creates a feedback loop that bypasses rational thought. You reach for another triangle before consciously deciding to. The bag empties while you’re still forming opinions about whether you like them.
I’m not sure I like them. I’m certain I’ll finish them.
