Now we’re talking.

The unsalted olive oil crisps were an interesting concept lacking a reason to exist. Adding black truffle provides that reason. The earthy, fungal, almost dirty luxury of truffle turns restraint into refinement.

The truffle is present without overwhelming. That distinctive musk, unmistakable once you’ve learned to recognise it, woven through the olive oil base. It’s not truffle-flavoured crisps in the heavy-handed way some products attempt. It’s crisps gently perfumed with truffle, sophistication through suggestion.

The olive oil base makes sense now. Its fruitiness complements the truffle’s earthiness. Its lack of competing flavours lets the truffle speak. The minimalist approach was building toward this all along.

Occasion crisps

You don’t eat these on the sofa watching television. You serve them at dinner parties, with champagne, when you want guests to understand that you understand food. They’re statement crisps, luxury positioning in snack form.

For that specific purpose, they’re excellent. M&S Collection at its most defensible.
