Sausage sarnie. Bread and sausage and probably ketchup, the breakfast of builders and hungover students. Heinz claims this territory through brand association, their ketchup presumably being the implied condiment.

The flavour is meaty and savoury with sweet tomato undertones. It’s breakfast-adjacent, triggering morning associations despite being eaten at any time. The sausage element is convincing, that herby pork flavour that British bangers provide.

There’s something comforting about these. They taste like a specific meal, a specific occasion, a specific kind of British morning. Whether you want that from a crisp depends on your relationship with flavour nostalgia.

A successful novelty. Not something you’d eat regularly, but interesting enough to try.
