Salted tortilla chips are not a snack. They’re an ingredient. A component in a larger snacking system that requires salsa, guacamole, cheese dip, or some other accompaniment to be complete.

Judged as an ingredient, Deltas Salted performs well.

The tortilla is sturdy with good corn flavour and appropriate salt levels. Each chip snaps cleanly and holds structural integrity when loaded with dip. The thickness is calibrated correctly for scooping without breaking.

The solo experience

Eaten alone, these are boring. There’s no other word for it. Salt and corn and not much else. After a handful, you’re reaching for something to put on them because the eating experience is incomplete.

This is by design. Salted tortilla chips know their role and don’t try to exceed it.

Restaurant quality?

The best tortilla chips are freshly made in Mexican restaurants, still warm, with a depth of corn flavour that packaged versions never achieve. Deltas isn’t trying to compete with that. It’s trying to compete with other bags on supermarket shelves.

In that context, these are perfectly acceptable.

The verdict

If you’re making nachos, serving with dips, or building any kind of Mexican-adjacent snack plate, these work. If you want something to eat on its own, literally any other Deltas flavour is a better choice.

Functional but incomplete.
