The retro photo on the pack shows a woman eating fire. I’m not sure this is promising, or what I want/expect from paprika.

From the moment the bag opened there was indeed that unmistakable aroma of paprika smoke, thick and rich, like a sweaty Hungarian sweat bath.

The taste at least lives up to the promise of the photo. The smoked paprika hits full‑on, with a savoury warmth that builds, not just a surface sparkle.

That said, there’s something about the smokiness that doesn’t feel entirely natural: it leans heavily on the “smoke flavour” rather than letting the potato itself shine through the seasoning.

If you’re a fan of loud seasoning and want a crisp that shouts “smoke,” this will deliver. But if you prefer something more refined, where the seasoning compliments the potato rather than dominates it, you might find this one a little too overt.

Update: The aftertaste does stay with you for a while longer than may be welcome. Two pints later and I can definitely feel the smoke in the same way as a really violent garlic meal lingers with you unpleasantly.
