The corn masa tortilla base is different from standard tortillas. More authentic, with better corn flavour and a slightly different texture. It’s the kind of tortilla chip you’d find at a Mexican restaurant rather than a British supermarket.
The heat reality
These are properly hot. Not challenge-level, not weapons-grade, but genuinely spicy in a way that Sainsbury’s standard chilli tortillas aren’t. The habanero delivers. Your lips will know about it. Your tongue will pay attention.
The salsa concept
The “salsa” descriptor suggests these are designed to taste like salsa-flavoured chips. The tomato and chilli combination does evoke salsa. But the depth comes from the specific chillies, the ancho and habanero providing character that “salsa flavour” alone couldn’t achieve.
