Baked crisps are a compromise. Less fat, fewer calories, and significantly less satisfaction. The baking process produces a different texture, lighter and crunchier but somehow less enjoyable. It’s the crisp equivalent of diet cola.

Baked Cheese & Onion delivers the flavour adequately. The cheese tang is there. The onion is there. But without the fried texture underneath, everything feels hollow. You’re eating flavoured air shaped like crisps.

The health value proposition is questionable too. You’re not eating vegetables. You’re eating slightly less unhealthy junk food, which is still junk food. The calorie saving is real but the pretence of health is exactly that.

For people committed to baked crisps, these are fine. For everyone else, just eat fewer regular crisps and enjoy them more.
